Apps
Things that are useful rather than fun, though the distinction is not always obvious.

Packing List
A trip packing list app. Answer a short wizard about who is coming, how long, and what the weather will be, and receive a tailored list. Or skip the wizard and build from scratch. Lists are stored in the browser; nothing leaves the device. Sign in with Google is optional and does not currently sync lists across devices, which the app will tell you directly rather than hiding it. Next.js 16, React 19, Prisma with a Postgres adapter, Tailwind 4.

SwiftQuiz
A live audience-response quiz platform in the style of Kahoot and Slido. The host creates a room; players join with a code or QR code; questions advance on the host's screen. Real-time is handled by Ably rather than raw WebSockets, because Vercel's serverless functions cannot hold persistent connections. Room state lives in Upstash Redis so it stays consistent across ephemeral function instances. Players submit answers over HTTP, not via the Ably channel, which avoids a race condition worth having anticipated. Next.js 15, Three.js for effects, Framer Motion, Tailwind.
